Care and Assistance
Care and Assistance
In every person’s life, there are inevitable times of need, whether it be an acutely difficult situation, an ongoing challenge, or an episode of crisis. As a church family we are here for each other always, including times of need. Pastoral staff and church officers (Elders and the Diaconate) seek to provide care in our church especially during challenging seasons.
The Diaconate, a mercy ministry of Redeemer East Side, cares for those in our community with practical needs and shapes a culture of care, believing the gospel brings transformation.
The Diaconate offers:
- Spiritual guidance
- Practical guidance and help
- Financial assistance
For Pastoral Care, prayer or Diaconate assistance, please fill out a care form or call 917-206-1451.
In case of emergency, please call 911, your local emergency room or 1-888-NYC WELL (888-692-9355).
Pray With a Deek
You are invited to receive personal prayer from a deacon or deaconess after the Sunday services. In-person prayer is available by coming to the front of the sanctuary where deeks are waiting to welcome and pray with you.
Deeks are also available online for prayer each Sunday at 12 and 6:15 p.m. To make your experience as personal as possible, you will be admitted one at time. If others are ahead of you, you will enter a waiting room before talking with a deek. There are two ways to join online prayer:
- Zoom. If you're using a smartphone, you will be asked to install an app.
- Phone: (646) 558-8656 with Meeting ID: 819 9619 3760 and Passcode: 520466
The East Side Disaster Relief Fund is intended to help Redeemer East Siders and neighbors, friends or family members in New York City who are not part of our church community and have experienced immediate financial needs because of a disaster (such as COVID-19). Please complete this care request form (for non-congregant New Yorkers) and a member of the Diaconate team will be in contact. For Covid related needs, this curated list of resources can also offer support.
For healthcare workers
Thank you for the sacrifices you have made during this pandemic to care for others. We have set aside a portion of the Disaster Relief Fund to help with additional costs incurred for precautions your family had to take and for counseling that can help with the pressures of working in healthcare during the pandemic. For more information, or if you know of a healthcare worker who would benefit from these funds, contact Lyn Cook at [email protected].
