Redeemer East Side Update

With the sense of a new beginning that the new year brings, you may be thinking about changes you want to see in your life. For some, that means making New Years’ Resolutions. Jonathan Edwards, the Puritan theologian, famously sought to live out 70 resolutions in his own life with the help of the Spirit.

For me, though, I’ve started to use the New Year to revisit what I call my “Rule of Life.” It’s just a simple set of Christian practices that gives structure and rhythm to my days, weeks, and months. It’s less about resolving to do more things, and more about recalibrating my life around the things that are most important—life with God, life in community, and a life of service to the world.

At Redeemer East Side, we want to help you reorient your life around those priorities too. So, here are three resources to help you as we start the new year together:

  • Practices worksheet. This worksheet is a simple tool to help you look at your practices at-a-glance and help you take small steps to deepen them. Use it individually, with a friend/spouse, and in your Community Group.
  • Redeemer Devotional. We developed a Scripture-based daily devotional email to get us into Scripture and to gather us into a common life of prayer.
  • Online Formation Paths. We want to put gospel-rich resources in your hands so you can use them to fit your schedule. Go to learn.redeemer.com for our new mobile-friendly Formation Paths. Use them during your commute or whenever is best for you. More Paths are coming soon.

I pray that 2018 will be a year of deep spiritual growth for you as we seek to reorient our lives around the gospel together in new ways.

Happy New Year!
