Redeemer East Side Update
I love this quote from G.K. Chesterton:
How much larger your life would be if your self could become smaller in it … You would break out of this tiny and tawdry theatre in which your own little plot is always played, and you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers.
This always reads like a breath of fresh air to me. Our culture today tends to send us deeper into the “tawdry theatre” of the self in search for personal significance. But what if Chesterton is right? What if there is a larger life that is possible? What if there are freer skies awaiting us if we could step out of the confines of the self?
On November 17-18 (Friday and Saturday), the Redeemer family of churches will be hosting the first of a series of Formation Conferences to explore these questions of identity. We believe that at the heart of what it means to grow as a follower of Christ is to have our identities more deeply rooted in the gospel so that we are freed more and more to live lives of self-giving love. In addition to plenary talks on gospel identity by Tim Keller, this conference will equip you with daily practices that you can incorporate right away to help you keep the gospel at the center of your life.
This conference grows out of the Rise Campaign and is specifically designed to train and invest in you, our members and regular attenders. We believe that you have a critical role to play in what God is doing in the city. So register now before it fills up!
