Practices of Peace

Transformed Together

Overview | Pause | Eat | Ask | Commune | Examine

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." —Matthew 11:28-30

Welcome to the Practices of PEACE, five practices, Pause, Eat, Ask, Commune, Examine, that are the markers of the Redeemer East Side Community. We want all of us to transform together through opening up space for God’s peace and purposes through these practices. Then, filled with peace of Christ, we pass his PEACE to the people and places where we live, work and love. Join us to emerge from the tumult of 2020 transformed for the good.

From February through June 2021, each month a new practice will be layered with those that were practiced before. Transform together by building the Practices of PEACE into the flow of your daily life and experience purpose and peace through the gospel. Every month the following crucial offerings will aid you:

(1) Guidebook, mailed to you each month, with tools and reflections tailored for each practice
(2) “PEACE: An Invitation to...." speaker event designed to activate all of us to build the new practice each month
(3) Pass the PEACE, by committing to a Hope for New York affiliate
(4) Community Groups will build the Practices of PEACE together

Please check back each month as we add tailored offerings for each practice.

Register for Sun., March 21, 1 p.m.
Food is one of a myriad of ways we can delight in God and enjoy the vibrancy of human cultures, but we also recognize that many of our neighbors are suffering when it comes to food: restaurants are beleaguered by the pandemic, and many of our homeless neighbors often go without food. So join us as we (safely) serve our neighbors through an in-person international food tour in the Upper East Side. If you cannot join in person, we will provide registrants with the list of the restaurants we will visit, with prayer prompts for them and the neighborhood.
